Watson Leads Lady Flyers at Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate

Sophomore Parker Watson shot 82-79-161 last Monday and Tuesday to lead the Sandhills Community College women's golf team at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate hosted by Lincoln Memorial University.

Watson tied for 40th place in the event held at the Ocean Ridge Plantation, Panther Run course. The Lady Flyers were one of two community colleges represented in the field of 89 golfers that included 16 NCAA Division II schools.

Wingate won the team title by one stroke over Tusculum and Lenoir-Rhyne.

Coach Herb Pike's squad also included sophomore Amanda Hill, freshman Danielle Marovich and freshman Alicia Dunlap. Hill posted scores of 85-86-171 to finish in 68th place. Marovich came in 75th with scores of 88-88-176.

The next tournament for the Lady Flyers is the St. Andrews Fall Invitational held at Scotch Meadows in Laurinburg on October 23-24.
