Ou’s Medalist Honors Catapults SCC to Third Place Finish

The Sandhills Lady Golfers had very successful tournament at Whispering Pines. The tournament was the Brown Golf Invitational which included 9 Divisions II teams and the team from Sandhills. The tournament was played over two days on the Pines course. Cool and Windy conditions made the scoring more difficult. Freshman Shirley Ou was the individual winner with scores of 74 and 78 putting her4 strokes ahead of the second lace individual. The team finished 3rd with scores of 342 and 338 for a total of 680. The winning team was Merrimack with 661 and 2nd place was West Chester with 664. Scores for the Sandhills ladies were Parker Watson 87,83, Amanda Hill 93,86, Danielle Mirovich 88,91, and Alicia Dunlap 116,125.

The win for Shirley should be the first of many for the talented freshman. Her golfing talent plus her competitive spirit and careful planned attack of whatever golf coursis playing will only bring more success in the future.
