Rain Cancels Second Round of Battle for Royalty
The final round of the Battle for Royalty women's golf tournament held at Southern Pines Country Club was canceled on Tuesday because of a steady rain.
Most members of the Sandhills Community College team and 13 others had completed four holes after a shotgun start at the time the decision was made.
Lincoln Memorial of Harrogate, TN was the winner by two strokes over host Queens University of Charlotte based upon Monday's opening round results.
The medalist was Kornbongkoat Sararat of King University of Bristol, TN with a round of 72. Hailey McLaughlin of Wingate was the runner-up after posting a 75.
The top finishers for the Lady Flyers in the field of 69 golfers were Scotty Foley in a tie for 43rd place with an 85 and Ava Ray in a tie for 47th place with an 88.
Aubrianna Bishop was 64th with a score of 106. Lindsey McCauley and Ellie Smith completed the all-freshmen Flyers' lineup.
The final tournament of the fall season for Coach Herb Pike's squad is the St. Andrews Invitational in Laurinburg on October 1-2.
