Lady Flyers Wrap Up Fall Golf Season at the Scotch Invite
The Sandhills Community College women's golf team finished in eighth place at the Scotch Invite hosted by St. Andrews University at Scotch Meadows Golf Course in Laurinburg on Monday and Tuesday.
Freshman Ava Ray led the Lady Flyers with a tied for 28th place finish in the field of 54 golfers and nine teams after rounds of 88-89-177.
Next for Coach Herb Pike's squad were, Hayla Bryson, tied for 32nd place with scores of 87-95-182, and Aubrianna Bishop, tying for 34th place with scores of 94-90-184.
Also for the Lady Flyers all-freshmen contingent, Gabby Bynum posted 92-101-193 and Scotty Foley completed the second day with a score of 81.
Martha Sanchez of SCAD-Atlanta shot 78-75-153 to earn medalist honors via a playoff against Natalie Brosig of Methodist.
SCAD -Atlanta finished in first place as team. The other eight schools were all NAIA or NCAA members.
This was the third and final tournament of the fall season for Sandhills. Other members of the team include sophomore Lindsay McAulay and freshman Eleanor Smith.
