The Sandhills Community College volleyball team was defeated 16-25, 24-26, 25-14 and 19-25 by USC Sumter on Saturday's second day of the Surry Invitational in Dobson.
The Lady Flyers take a record of 0-3 into Tuesday's 6 p.m. match at Fayetteville Tech. Looking ahead, Coach Alicia Riggan's squad is scheduled to entertain Guilford Tech in its home opener at The Hangar at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Lowe added two more aces and Lawrence contributed six kills in all, as the Flyers closed the gap in sets to 2-1.
Another kill by Lawrence, and a service ace by L'Asia Jackson, broke a tie and gave the Flyers a 13-11 lead about midway through the fourth. They led for the last time at 14-13 before the squad from South Carolina closed out the match.
Allen led the Flyers with 12 kills followed by Lawrence with six. Lowe finished with 21 assists, 16 digs, and 6 service aces. Abby Quick was also credited with 16 digs.
