Flyers Come Back in Fourth Set to Down Lancers
The Sandhills Community College volleyball team overcame a third set loss to lead a comeback in the fourth set and defeat the Lancers of USC Lancaster 3-1 Tuesday night at The Hanger.
The flyers took the first set (25-11) and a close second set (25-23) to build a 2-0 lead heading into a potential third and final set. That was not the case as the Lancers stopped the three-set sweep by the taking the third set from the flyers (25-12). The flyers then came back swinging in the fourth set jumping out to an early lead and eventually taking the fourth set (25-15) for the win.
The Flyers improve to 10-4 (3-0) and sweep the season series over USC Lancaster. The Lancers fall to 9-11(4-2)
Lexi Allen led the way in kills for the Flyers with 12 followed by Keke Lawrence with 10. Mya Mallard contributed 9 kills in the winning effort.
Abby Quick led the way in digs with 22 , followed by L'Asia Jackson with 12 and Camryn Lowe with 10. Allen and Quick both had 2 service aces apiece in the flyers win.
With this win, the Flyers have won their eight straight match dating back to Sept. 16, 2021.
The Flyers will be back in action Wednesday night at 6pm against Fayetteville Tech Community College (9-2), before jumping back in to conference play again on Saturday against Patrick Henry (0-6).
