Sandhills Welcomes Madison Smith to the Flyers Family
Sandhills Community College Volleyball is excited to announce the signing of Madison Smith, an outside hitter from Cleveland High School, to the Flyers family.
Standing at 5'9", Smith brings seven years of volleyball experience, a strong work ethic, and an energetic presence to the Flyers as she begins her collegiate career at SCC. She is currently undecided on her major.
Smith helped lead Cleveland High School to a 22–5 record as a senior while earning multiple honors in both volleyball and track and field. Her accolades include Second Team All-Conference, Most Improved and Coach's Awards in volleyball, as well as Academic All-Conference recognition in both sports. She was also recently named to the 2025–26 NCVBCA All-Region Team, further highlighting her development and impact at the high school level.
In addition to her high school success, Smith gained valuable club experience competing with NC Intensity for four years and Cap City Volleyball Club for the past two seasons. She also lettered in track and field and remained active in FFA, demonstrating her commitment to growth both on and off the court.
Smith chose Sandhills because of the program's culture, coaching staff, and the successful tradition the Flyers have built. She is eager to continue developing her volleyball IQ, improving her skill set and vertical, and building strong relationships with her coaches and teammates. Smith is also planning to try out for the Sandhills beach volleyball program.
Flyers Head Coach Alicia Riggan is excited about what Smith brings to the program: "We're excited to welcome Maddie to the Flyers family! She brings a wealth of volleyball knowledge from years of playing the game. Her vertical jump, her arm swing, her tenacity, her energy, and her positive attitude will make a seamless transition to our volleyball program. We're excited to have her and can't wait to see the impact she'll make."
