Lady Flyers Swept Away by the Storm
The Sandhills Community College volleyball team was defeated 25-16, 25-18 and 25-8 by Davidson-Davie CC in Thomasville on Tuesday.
The Lady Flyers dropped to 12-6 with the non-conference loss. The Division II Storm improved to 12-3 with its 10th win in the last 11 starts.
Coach Alicia Riggan's squad takes a conference record of 5-0 into Thursday's 7 p.m, match in Sanford against a Central Carolina CC team that is 0-10 overall and 0-2 in Region 10.
The Storm jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first set and never let up. Lexi Allen led the Lady Flyers with seven kills and 13 digs. Kaitlyn Locklear contributed six service aces and six assists.
On an inefficient evening of attacking by the Flyers, Mackenzie Swett was credited with five kills on 10 attacks.
The loss to the Storm was the first in the last nine meetings between the teams going back to October 12, 2016.
