Flyers Sweep Cleveland on the Road
The Sandhills Community College volleyball team continued its strong start to the season with a 3-0 road victory over Cleveland Community College on Friday night. The Flyers controlled the match from start to finish, winning by set scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-16.
Sandhills spread the offense across the net, finishing with 41 kills as a team. Brooke Emore led the attack with a match-high 16 kills and 13 digs, while Reagan Smith hit an efficient .462 with seven kills and two blocks. Taylor Miller added nine kills on a .304 clip, and Liz Bryson chipped in four kills and a block.
Setter Averi Cuddeback directed the offense with 25 assists, three service aces, and eight digs, while fellow setter Reagan Malpass tallied 13 assists and five digs. Defensively, Jacque Holden and Olivia Rosy each anchored the back row with eight digs apiece.
At the net, the Flyers were dominant, recording 6.5 total blocks. Madison Scheffler posted two solo blocks and one assist, while Bryson and Katelyn Bunting each added two blocks of their own.
The win pushes Sandhills to 10-0 on the season as they return home for a doubleheader on Saturday, September 6. The Flyers will face USC Sumter at 11 a.m. before closing the day against Southwestern Virginia Community College at 3 p.m. inside The Hangar.
