Flyers Battle Windy Conditions to Finish Runner-Up at Laker Spring Break Shootout

The Sandhills Community College men's golf team opened their spring season with a strong second-place finish at the Laker Spring Break Shootout, hosted by Mercyhurst University at Foxfire Resort and Golf Club. The Flyers posted a team score of +24 (888) over three rounds, finishing behind only Charleston Southern (+8, 872).

Competing in challenging windy conditions, Sandhills was led by William Mitchell, who tied for third place individually at +1 (217) with consistent rounds of 73, 73, and 71. Vegas Melen finished sixth at +4 (220), while Wyatt Beaver placed 10th at +8 (224). Evan Cowell and Landon Cabingas both tied for 13th at +11 (227), while William Dement and Connor Lineberry rounded out the lineup at +21 (237) and +28 (244), respectively.

Despite the gusty conditions, the Flyers improved in each round, closing with their best team score of 291 in the final 18 holes. The strong showing provides momentum as they continue their spring season.
