Sandhills Falls in Five-Set Battle at USC Lancaster
The second-ranked Sandhills Community College Flyers suffered their first setback of the season Monday evening, falling 3–2 on the road to USC Lancaster in a tightly contested match. Set scores were 25–21, 25–13, 22–25, 24–26, 10–15.
Brooke Emore powered the offense with 16 kills and 29 digs, while Katelyn Bunting was highly efficient at the net, tallying 10 kills on a .333 hitting percentage to go with four blocks. Taylor Miller added six kills, and Madison Scheffler chipped in five. Setter Averi Cuddeback dished out 23 assists and served up two aces, while libero Olivia Rosy anchored the defense with 11 digs.
Despite winning the opening two sets, the Flyers were unable to close out the match as Lancaster battled back to take the final three.
With the loss, Sandhills moves to 15–1 overall. The Flyers will look to bounce back on Wednesday night when they travel to Central Carolina Community College in Sanford, NC. First serve is set for 6 PM.
