Flyers Sweep Louisburg on the Road
The Sandhills Community College volleyball team earned a dominant 3-0 sweep over Louisburg College on Wednesday night, winning by set scores of 25-14, 25-17, and 25-13. The victory moves the Flyers one step closer to the heart of their Region 10 schedule with strong momentum.
After a slow offensive start in the opening frame, Sandhills settled in behind efficient hitting in the second set, posting a .382 team attack percentage to take control of the match. Overall, the Flyers hit .210 on the night compared to just .034 for the Hurricanes.
Freshman middle blocker Madison Scheffler paced the attack with 7 kills on a blistering .545 hitting percentage while adding 4 solo blocks. Outside hitter Brooke Emore also made a major impact, tallying a team-high 11 kills and 14 digs for a double-double. Katelyn Bunting chipped in 6 kills and contributed at the net with 2 block assists.
Setter Averi Cuddeback directed the Flyers' offense with 15 assists, while libero Olivia Rosy anchored the defense with 13 digs. From the service line, Sandhills collected 5 aces, highlighted by 2 each from Reagan Malpass and Jacque Holden.
Defensively, the Flyers were sharp, racking up 54 digs as a team and holding Louisburg's offense to negative percentages in two of the three sets.
The Flyers return to Region 10 play on Saturday, October 4, when they travel to Caldwell Community College to face the Cobras at 11 a.m. as part of a tri-match. Sandhills will also square off against USC Sumter later in the day at 1 p.m.
