No. 5 Ranked Flyers Host Guilford Tech Tonight at 7
The Sandhills Community College men's basketball team moved up four spots in this week's NJCAA Division III poll to No. 5 after winning all three of its games in the opening week of the season.
The Flyers (3-0) will try to continue their winning ways this evening (Wednesday) when they take on Division II Guilford Tech (1-0) at 7 p.m. at The Hangar.
The four teams in front of the Flyers in the rankings are: No.1 Genesee CC (NY), No. 2 Dallas College Eastfield, No. 3 Riverland CC (MN) and No. 4 Herkimer CC (NY).
Coach Mike Apple's squad has averaged 110.0 points per game. Led by sophomore Joey McMullin (16.7), five Flyers have averaged in double figures in scoring, including sophomores Bryan Quiller (14.7), Jaquan Thurman (13.0) and LeNijel Robinson (11.3), and Freshman Jamori McDougald (11.3).
Robinson is the leader in rebounds per game (8.5), sophomore Jordan Coleman leads in assists (4.7) and freshman Chad Kinch leads in steals (2.0).
The Flyers will hit the road for the first time in the regular season when they travel to Raleigh to face Wake Tech at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
