Sandhills Community College dropped a tight Region 10 contest on Saturday afternoon, falling 77–73 to Virginia Peninsula Community College at The Hangar.
The Flyers trailed 42–36 at halftime but stayed within striking distance throughout the second half, cutting the deficit to a single possession multiple times down the stretch. Sandhills shot 43.3 percent from the floor and held a rebounding edge, but struggled from beyond the arc, finishing 1-for-11 from three-point range.
Nysheed Williams led all scorers for Sandhills with 23 points off the bench, connecting on 8-of-9 shots from the field and adding six free throws. Zack Noel recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Amarie Liburd also posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards. Isaiah Upchurch chipped in 12 points, and the Flyers finished with 37 total rebounds.
Virginia Peninsula maintained its lead behind consistent scoring in both halves.
The Flyers will be back in action quickly, returning to The Hangar on Sunday, February 8, 2026, to host Oxford College of Emory University. Tipoff is set for 1:00 PM.
