Sandhills Community College Volleyball delivered a dominant performance in its home contest Wednesday night, sweeping Lenoir Community College in straight sets (25-7, 25-18, 25-9) inside the Hangar.
The Flyers came out firing in the first set, hitting .409 as a team and never allowing Lenoir to settle into rhythm. After taking a more competitive second frame, Sandhills regrouped and closed the match in commanding fashion with a 25-9 third set.
Sophomore outside hitter Brooke Emore led the offense with nine kills on a .353 hitting percentage while also adding five service aces and 11 digs for a match-high 14 points. Freshman Reagan Smith was nearly unstoppable, recording five kills on nine swings without an error (.556). Taylor Miller chipped in four kills, while Liz Bryson and Julia Porter added two apiece.
At the net, the Flyers were anchored by Katelyn Bunting, who contributed three kills along with three blocks and two block assists. Earlier in the day, Bunting was honored as the NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week for her 15-block performance last week, and she carried that same presence into Wednesday's victory.
The Flyers' serve proved to be another difference-maker as Sandhills racked up 19 aces on the night, paced by Emore (5), Giannie Small (5), and Averi Cuddeback (4). Olivia Rosy anchored the back row with a team-best 12 digs.
With the win, Sandhills improves to 9-0 on the season. The Flyers will travel on Friday before returning home Saturday for a tri-match against USC Sumter (11 a.m.) and Southwest Virginia (3 p.m.) inside the Hangar.
