The Sandhills Community College Flyers continued their strong start to the season with back-to-back sweeps at Pitt Community College on Saturday, September 20. The No. 2-ranked Flyers topped the Bulldogs 3–0 in the noon matchup (25–19, 25–19, 25–22) before earning another straight-set victory in the afternoon contest (25–18, 25–12, 25–20).
In the opener, Brooke Emore powered the Flyers with 19 kills on a .395 hitting percentage while adding 15 digs. Katelyn Bunting chipped in 9 kills and 4 digs, while Taylor Miller was efficient with 6 kills on a .455 clip. Madison Scheffler added 3 kills and 4 total blocks. Setting duties were shared by Averi Cuddeback (24 assists, 3 aces, 5 digs) and Reagan Malpass (11 assists, 5 digs), helping Sandhills hit .217 as a team. Defensively, Olivia Rosy collected 13 digs and Jacque Holden contributed 12.
The Flyers carried that momentum into the second match, once again taking control early and never letting Pitt rally. Emore followed up with 11 kills and 12 digs, while Bunting had 7 kills and 2 blocks. Reagan Smith and Miller each added 6 kills, combining for 13 points, and Scheffler added 3 more kills and 2 digs. Cuddeback paced the offense with 20 assists and 3 aces, while Malpass added 12 assists and 2 aces. On the defensive side, Rosy recorded 12 digs and Holden 7, helping limit Pitt's opportunities.
As a team, Sandhills finished the day with 76 kills, 15 service aces, and 14 blocks across the two matches, hitting .235 overall.
With the pair of sweeps, the Flyers improve to 18–1 on the season. Sandhills will hit the road Monday for a matchup against Guilford Technical Community College before returning home Wednesday night for a 6 PM match against Davidson-Davie Community College at The Hangar.
