The No. 2-ranked Sandhills Community College Flyers rolled to a dominant three-set sweep over Central Carolina Community College on Wednesday night during the team's annual Green Out for Mental Health Awareness match. Set scores were 25-9, 25-11, 25-12.
The win keeps the Flyers perfect in Region 10 play, improving to 5-0 and 27-2 overall on the season.
Sandhills set the tone early in front of a strong home crowd, firing on all cylinders with efficient hitting and aggressive serving to take the opening set, 25-9. The Flyers maintained control throughout the second, using balanced offense and tough defense to extend the lead with a 25-11 win. In the third, Sandhills closed out the match in convincing fashion, 25-12.
Katelyn Bunting led the Flyers' attack with nine kills and a .438 hitting percentage, adding one ace and five digs. Brooke Emore followed with seven kills and eight points overall, while Taylor Miller added six kills on .417 hitting. Madison Scheffler contributed five kills and one block assist, and Reagan Smith added three kills on .500 hitting.
Setter Averi Cuddeback directed the offense with 20 assists and tallied a match-high nine aces. Reagan Malpass chipped in eight assists, six digs, and one ace, while Jacque Holden added a pair of digs and an ace of her own.
The Flyers will travel for their final Region 10 regular-season match on Friday, October 10, when they face Patrick & Henry Community College at 12 p.m.
Sandhills returns home on Saturday, October 11, for Sophomore Day, celebrating Katelyn Bunting, Jacque Holden, Julia Porter, Megan Robinson, and Reagan Smith. First serve against USC Lancaster is set for 12 p.m.
