Flyers Sweep Davidson-Davie on the Road, Improve to 4-0
The Sandhills Community College Flyers earned a dominant road victory Wednesday night, sweeping Davidson-Davie Community College in straight sets (25-13, 25-20, 25-23).
Sandhills came out strong in the opening set, using an aggressive attack and solid serving to take control early and close out a convincing 25-13 win. The second set proved more competitive, but key swings and defensive stops helped the Flyers pull away late for a 25-20 victory. Davidson-Davie pushed hard in the third, but Sandhills held firm down the stretch to complete the sweep with a 25-23 finish.
Balanced Offense and Strong Net Play
The Flyers showcased a balanced offensive attack, led by Brooke Emore with 11 kills, while Taylor Miller added 8 kills on an impressive .389 hitting percentage. Reagan Smith (5 kills), Madison Scheffler (4 kills, .400), and Katelyn Bunting (4 kills, .444) provided additional firepower at the net. Liz Bryson chipped in 3 kills and combined for blocks, while Bunting and Scheffler each recorded multiple block assists to anchor the defense.
Setting the Tempo
Averi Cuddeback directed the offense with 16 assists and a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage on her lone attack. Reagan Malpass contributed 14 assists and a service ace, helping keep the Flyers' offense in rhythm.
On the defensive side, Olivia Rosy led with 17 digs, while Emore and Cuddeback each added key coverage to extend rallies. At the net, Bunting led the block party with three solo blocks, and Miller added three block assists.
The win improves Sandhills to 4-0 on the season. The Flyers now turn their attention to a big weekend ahead, traveling to Perrysburg, Ohio for the Owens Invitational. They'll open play on Friday against Terra State at 10:00 AM before facing Lorain County Community College at 1:30 PM. On Saturday, Sandhills takes on Delta College at 9:00 AM (ranked 15th in the preseason poll) and then squares off with College of DuPage, the No. 2 team in the nation, in a marquee matchup.
